Film: Duck and Cover, 1951

DUCKANDCOVERIt seems remarkable today that civil defense officials advised ducking under a schoolroom desk or covering the head with a blanket against the power of an atomic bomb. But that’s exactly what this nine-minute film from 1951 recommended that children learn to do.  A whole generation believed that crouching down and putting hands over head was enough to save them.  Have a look.
